At Mobile World Congress Shanghai 2017, Qualcomm Technologies Inc. has introduced the all new Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 Mobile Platform, a new entry in the Snapdragon 400 Series. Focusing on Mid-Range budget devices below 200$. It is based on 14nm FinFET Process which brings improvements in battery life, graphics and computing performance, imaging and LTE connectivity over its predecessor, the Snapdragon 435 Mobile Platform.

The key areas of improvements are over its predecessor Snapdragon 435 are:

  1. Improved CPU and GPU: 25% increase in Octa Core CPU Performance and Adreno 506 delivers a 25% increase in graphics performance.
  2. Battery Life: With an additional four hours of usage time, 30% reduction in power while gaming. Quick Charge 3.0 Support which can change from 0% to 80% in just 35 minutes.
  3. Camera and Multimedia: Supports real-time Bokeh (Live Bokeh) effects, support for dual camera at 13+13 MP or single camera support up to 21MP, hybrid autofocus, 1080p video capture and playback at 60fps, slow motion capture. Support for Full HD 1920×1080 displays, Hexagon DSP with better multimedia performance and lower power usage.
  4. Connectivity and USB: Fast LTE connectivity with Snapdragon X9 LTE Modem with downlink peak speeds up to 300 Mbps and uplink peak speeds up to 150 Mbps, support for large number of mobile networks with Snapdragon All Mode, and 802.11ac with MU-MIMO support. It also supports USB 3.0 for faster data transfer speeds.

The Snapdragon 450 is expected to begin commercial sampling to customers in Q3 2017, and is expected to be available in consumer devices by the end of 2017.
