Reliance Jio is likely to launch it’s 4G VoLTE featured phone. The price could be as low as Rs.500 as per report of The Economic Times.
If this phone launches then telecom sector will see another wave of disruption. The phone is expected to launch on 21st July at Reliance Industries’ annual general meeting. They could also offer a new plan for Jio subscribers similar to Dhan Dhana Dan Offer. As Dhan Dhana Dhan offer is going to end by the end of this month.
This is another move by Jio to improve its subscribers base. As of April 2017, Jio had 112.55 Million Subscribers. This shows the clear plan of Jio to provide cheap 4G VoLTE phone for all other users who don’t have a 4G handset.
In India, Jio is the only provider working commercially on a VoLTE only network. Other operators like Airtel, Vodafone, Idea are still testing their VoLTE network.
On an average a 4G smartphone cost around Rs.3000, Reliance Jio’s own smartphone brand ‘LYF’ starts from as low as Rs.3000. Providing cheaper VoLTE phones will allow people to migrate to a better, future-ready network at a very low cost.
